I have lived in Australia for six and a half years now, and based on my own casual observations along with a few unfavourable experiences I have come to a very damning and controversial conclusion:

People hate Asians.

Yes, it is a simple and undeniable fact. Even though racism is denounced worldwide as a crude and barbaric mentality of the past, people are still intrinsically racist and hate people of a different ethnicity from theirs, especially people of Asian/Oriental origin. We are so hated that in fact, even Asians hate each other. Are we that repugnant and so repulsive that even we make baby kittens cry? We may be. Asians tend to be silent and do not make eye contact when spoken to, which can be perceived as rudeness. Due to overpopulation in Asian countries, we tend to elbow-shove our way in crowds, which is not exactly a very polite thing to do in a Western society.

Allow me to present two cases based on what I have observed and have read about in the news:

Case 1: Other people hate Asian people.
An article in The Age newspaper reported that candidates with Asian-sounding names need to send out significantly more resumes to companies to score the same amount of interviews as compared to people with an Anglo-Saxon, Italian, or even Middle-eastern sounding name. The exact percentage is unknown because this was an article written a few months ago and I can't be bothered to dig it up in the archives but for the sake of argument, I will put this figure as an arbitrary 20 percent.

A reputable university sent out 200 bogus resumes to various companies and found out that a very large amount of these fake resumes that had Asian-sounding names on it did not receive replies, whereas resumes with Anglo-Saxon, Italian and even Middle-Eastern sounding names received more replies on average as compared to resumes with Oriental-sounding names. They worked out that Asians have to send out 20 percent more resumes than usual to score the same amount of job interviews as compared to people with other names.

Us Asians not only have to contend with working extra hard to score job interviews, we also tend to have a harder time scoring a potential partner. In dating sites, it was estimated that Asian males attract less than 25% of the total email queries from white women even though said Asian male is extremely good looking, makes $200,000 a year and is extremely intelligent and educated as compared to a white male with the same qualifications.

In this politically correct world, it is socially unacceptable to say "fuck you chinks, go back to your home country." or explicitly express your hatred towards Asians, hence you get (not so) subtle references to racial bigotry against people of the Oriental origin like what the Spaniard Olympians did in that one silly photograph during the 2008 Beijing Olympics to one particular Australian advertisement of an old white lady shouting "Oh, bloody Asian." repeatedly.

Mind you, a bunch of friends and I were watching television in the living room of our university residential house when that advertisement aired. My Australian housemate gave an awkward laugh and I swear I could see him slumping into his chair and pulling his hoodie over his head, obviously embarrassed at this little ad on TV due to him being surrounded by a good number of international students. We were a little amused, however, and were quite nonchalant about that silly little ad. Obviously, an Asian driver pissed off that sweet, little, old white lady so much that she had to say something to vent her anger before she gets an aneurysm.

Case 2: Asians hate Asians.
This is based on a true story. I took a five-week leave and went home to Malaysia for a vacation to spend time with my family and friends. So one day, I drove down to this very big and modern shopping mall called One Utama in the Bandar Utama suburbs to do a little shopping for the coming Lunar New Year. I walked into this store to have a look at some clothes and this Chinese girl did not even look at me, much less approach me and say "can I help you with something?" Nothing, nada, nichts. I looked towards her and gestured to indicate that I am interested in something, but I was completely ignored. "Whatever." was the first word that came to my mind and continued browsing.

A few minutes later, two white guys walked in. Based on the language that they were talking in, I think they were Scandinavian but that's besides the point. The same sales girl almost immediately said in a sycophantically sweet voice "Welcome!" Obviously the two white guys ignored her due to reasons mentioned in Case 1 above. That girl sounded like she was about to disinfect herself, get down on her knees, yank off their Quiksilver board shorts and suck their dicks dry. She followed them around, obviously trying hard to make a sale (or a root) with the two white guys in the store but they kept ignoring her. A few minutes later, they walked out of the store, obviously unimpressed with the goods that were on sale. She even managed a "Thank you, come again!" in that same syrupy sweet voice as sycophantically as she can even though she was completely ignored by the two guys. No they won't, you dumb bitch.

I was extremely amused at the situation. I have heard Asians getting the cold shoulder overseas, but here I am experiencing a form of racism; Reverse racism that is. I walked out of the store, promptly giving her the stink-eye. Not only did she not make a potential sale with me, she did not make a sale with three customers in the store. Good job you stupid, sorry-ass, uneducated bitch, way to go.

So there you go, an observation that everybody hates Asians. Although it is common knowledge that hate begets hate, but I'm sure me uttering this would be akin to peeing in an ocean of urine.
